The main raw materials in cosmetics are generally divided into general base materials and natural additives. General base materials in cosmetics include: oil-based raw materials, which are the most widely used raw materials in cosmetics, playing a role in protecting, moisturizing, and softening the skin in skincare products, and in setting and beautifying hair in hair products; surfactants, which reduce the surface tension of water and have functions such as detergency, wetting, dispersing, foaming, emulsifying, and thickening, and are often referred to as the "industrial MSG"; moisturizers, essential raw materials for creams and lotions, which prevent the cream from drying out and maintain skin moisture; binders, mainly used in hairspray, mousse, and gel masks; powders, mainly used in the manufacture of face powders; pigments and dyes, mainly used in the manufacture of cosmetic and cosmetic products; preservatives and antioxidants, which inhibit microbial growth during the shelf life of cosmetics and during consumer use; fragrances, which enhance the aroma of cosmetics and increase the product's perceived value; and other raw materials, including ultraviolet absorbers, dye intermediates used for hair dyeing, perming raw materials, antiperspirants, deodorants, raw materials for preventing dry skin, and anti-acne raw materials.
