Lithium Tert-butoxide

Lithium t butoxide is used in organic synthesis, typically as a strong base, to alter the activity and selectivity of catalysts in organometallic polymerization reactions. Furthermore, Lithium tert-butylate can be used for: synthesizing lithium-modified silica nanoparticles for conductive electrogel electrolytes; as a catalyst for the ring-opening polymerization of lactide; and as a lithium precursor for the flame-spray pyrolysis synthesis of LiV3O8 nanoparticles.

Solid lithium tertiaty butoxide is packaged in cardboard drums and steel drums.

1. Lithium tert-butoxide is flammable and may burn when exposed to open flames or heating. It should be stored in a cool, dry place, away from heat sources.

2. When using lithium tert-butoxide, wear appropriate protective gloves and goggles to avoid direct contact with skin and eyes.

3. Avoid inhaling lithium tert-butoxide vapors during handling. Handle in a well-ventilated environment.

The ideal storage environment is away from direct sunlight and in low humidity. Contact with water or air will cause lithium tert-butoxide powder to decompose rapidly or spontaneously combust; therefore, it should be stored in a sealed container. In case of lithium tert-butoxide combustion, do not use water to extinguish the fire; cover it with sand.
