Uses
Solid sodium ethoxide is used as a strong basic catalyst, ethoxylation agent, and as a coagulant and reducing agent in organic synthesis. Pharmaceutical products using sodium ethylate powder include phenobarbital, phenylbutazone, primidone, methyldopa, tetracaine hydrochloride, ibuprofen, aminopterin, pyrimethamine, and pifampicin. It is also used in pesticides and as an analytical reagent. Its main applications are in the pharmaceutical and pesticide industries. It is used as a strong basic catalyst, ethoxylation agent, and reducing agent in organic and pharmaceutical synthesis.

This product should be stored in its original packaging or a suitable airtight container in a dry place. The ideal storage environment is away from direct sunlight and in low humidity. Contact with water or air will cause sodium ethoxide powder to decompose rapidly or spontaneously combust; therefore, it should be stored in a sealed container. Precautions must be taken to avoid contact with skin or eyes. In case of sodium ethoxide combustion, do not use water to extinguish the fire; cover it with sand.
