Uses
1. Primarily used in the production of dioctyl azelate plasticizer; it can also be used as a raw material in the production of fragrances, lubricants, oils, and polyamide resins.
2. Azelaic acid has antibacterial properties and can be used as a food preservative. Its use in mouthwashes is beneficial for preventing tooth decay, and in soaps, it can prevent cracking of the soap surface. It has good skin permeability; its use in creams and ointments can increase skin absorption. It has various medicinal effects and can be used in ointments for skin diseases. It has skin-brightening and whitening functions. Azelaic acid or its zinc salt, combined with vitamin B6, is used in hair care products, suitable for the treatment of androgenetic alopecia caused by male endocrine imbalances, while simultaneously stimulating hair growth.

Azelainic acid is found in flue-cured tobacco leaves, burley tobacco leaves, and aromatic tobacco leaves.
