Sodium Tert-butoxide

Sodium tert-butoxide is a white crystalline solid widely used as a strong base in condensation, rearrangement, and ring-opening reactions in chemical, pharmaceutical, pesticide, and organic synthesis. It is stable at room temperature and pressure; avoid contact with strong reducing agents, moisture, air, and acids. It is slightly toxic to water; avoid contact between undiluted or large quantities of the product and groundwater, waterways, or sewage systems; do not discharge the material into the environment without government permission. It is used as an intermediate in organic and pharmaceutical synthesis; as a strong base, it is widely used in condensation, rearrangement, and ring-opening reactions in the organic synthesis of chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and pesticides.

This product should be stored in its original packaging or a suitable airtight container in a dry place. The ideal storage environment is away from direct sunlight and in low humidity. Contact with water or air will cause sodium tert-butoxide powder to decompose rapidly or spontaneously combust; therefore, it should be stored in a sealed container. Precautions must be taken to avoid contact with skin or eyes. In case of sodium tertiary butoxide combustion, do not use water to extinguish the fire; cover it with sand.
