1. Potassium methylate is an organometallic compound that can be used as a condensing agent and a strong basic catalyst in the production of methyl formate, dimethyl carbonate, and dimethylformamide.

2. It can be used in the production of sulfonamide drugs (such as sulfadiazine, sulfamethazine, sulfamethoxypyrimidine, sulfabenzylpyrimidine, etc.), trimethoprim, fluorene, vitamin A, vitamin B1, and other pharmaceutical and pesticide products.

3. Potassium methoxide powder can be used as a catalyst for processing edible fats and oils, a tanning agent for leather, and also as an analytical reagent.

Potassium methoxide is an organic alkaline corrosive substance, highly hygroscopic, and should be stored in a sealed container. During storage and transportation, take precautions against fire and direct sunlight, and store in a cool, well-ventilated, and dry place. The ideal storage environment is away from direct sunlight and has low humidity. Contact with water or air will cause solid potassium methylate to decompose rapidly or spontaneously combust; therefore, it should be stored in a sealed container. Precautions must be taken to avoid contact with skin or eyes. In case of potassium methanolate combustion, do not use water to extinguish the fire; use dry powder extinguishing agent or bury the fire with sand.
