Methanoic acid is a basic organic chemical raw material, widely used in the pesticide, leather, dye, pharmaceutical, and rubber industries.

 

Pharmaceutical Industry: Caffeine, aminopyrine, aminopyrine, aminophylline, theobromine, borneol, vitamin B1, metronidazole, mebendazole.

 

Pesticide Industry: Triadimefon, triadimefon, tricyclazole, triazine, triazophos, paclobutrazol, uniconazole, chlorpyrifos, dicofol, etc.

 

Chemical Industry: Calcium formate, sodium formate, ammonium formate, potassium formate, ethyl formate, barium formate, dimethylformamide, formamide, rubber antioxidants, pentaerythritol, neopentyl glycol, epoxidized soybean oil, octyl epoxidized soybean oil, tervamol chloride, paint remover, phenolic resin, pickling steel plate, etc.

 

Leather Industry: Tanning agents, deliming agents, and neutralizing agents for leather.

 

Rubber Industry: Coagulant for natural rubber.

 

Other uses: It can also be used to manufacture mordants for printing and dyeing, dyes, treatment agents, plasticizers, food preservatives, and animal feed additives.

Packaging, Storage, Handling, and Transportation

 

Formic acid(HCOOH) is packaged in high-strength plastic drums, steel drums, IBC drums, or ISO Tanks.

Store in a cool, well-ventilated warehouse. Keep away from fire and heat sources. The warehouse temperature should not exceed 30℃, and the relative humidity should not exceed 85%. Keep containers sealed. It should be stored separately from oxidizers, alkalis, and active metal powders; mixed storage is strictly prohibited. Appropriate types and quantities of fire-fighting equipment should be provided. The storage area should be equipped with spill response equipment and suitable containment materials.

 

For rail transport, loading should strictly follow the dangerous goods loading table in the Ministry of Railways' "Rules for the Transport of Dangerous Goods." Packaging must be intact and loading secure at the time of shipment. During transportation, ensure that containers do not leak, collapse, fall, or become damaged. Mixing or transporting with oxidizers, alkalis, active metal powders, or edible chemicals is strictly prohibited. During transportation, the transport vehicle should be equipped with appropriate types and quantities of fire-fighting equipment and leakage emergency handling equipment. During transport, it should be protected from exposure to sunlight, rain, and high temperatures. When transporting by road, it must follow the prescribed route and should not stop in residential areas or densely populated areas.
