Overview: Fludioxonil (trade names include Maxim) is a fungicide. Its mechanism of action involves inhibiting the kinase PK-III, a protein-activating enzyme that plays a signaling role in osmotic sensing transport. This leads to an increase in the concentration of nonphosphorylated regulatory portein, which in turn disrupts the secretion of osmotically sensitive cell-mitotic activating proteases, ultimately resulting in bacterial death. Due to its unique mechanism of action, it exhibits no cross-resistance with existing fungicides and is a promising class of pyrrole fungicides.

Uses

4-(2,2-difluoro-1,3-benzdioxol-4-yl)-1h-pyrrole-3-carbonitrile can be used as a foliar fungicide to control Fusarium solani, wheat smut, and damping-off fungi, and is particularly effective against gray mold. As a seed treatment agent, it is mainly used in cereals and leeks to control seed-borne and soil-borne pathogens such as Alternaria, Alternaria, Aspergillus, Fusarium spores, Helicobacter pylori, Rhizoctonia, and Penicillium. Specific diseases controlled include: wheat smut, snow rot, snow mold, sheath blight, root rot, take-all, glume blight, and stem smut.

This novel, broad-spectrum, non-systemic pyrrole fungicide inhibits the transfer of glucose phosphorylation and suppresses fungal mycelial growth, ultimately leading to the death of the pathogen. This product is used for foliar treatment of wheat, barley, corn, peas, rapeseed, rice, vegetables, grapes, lawns, and ornamental crops to control Fusarium nobile, Chemicalbook of wheat net rot, and damping-off fungi, and is particularly effective against gray mold. For seed treatment of cereals and non-cereals, it controls seed-borne and soil-borne pathogens such as Alternaria, Chilodonella, Aspergillus, Fusarium, Helicobacter, Rhizoctonia, and Penicillium. Recommended dosage: 250–500 g active ingredient/hm². Safe for subsequent crops and causes no phytotoxicity.
